Those who dwell, as scientists or laymen, among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life.

— Rachel Carson

Our adult programs are designed to help adults connect to nature and to each other. We feel very fortunate to live in a wonderfully diverse community of people with varied interests and passions who are committed to being stewards of the land and working toward a more sustainable way of living. Our workshops educate interested adults about these things. Our outdoor activities get nature-loving adults together and outside!

We have offered many hands-on workshops, which have included: artisinal bread and bagel making and baking, canning and preserving, compost bin making and composting, sheet-mulching and no-till gardening, prairie history and stewardship, Hickory Hill hike and native and invasive species ID.

We also schedule a number of adult focused activities, including camping trips, day trips to natural areas in Eastern Iowa, and canoe floats.
